A soothing room of aqua green, with hand-painted coral motif of white, which gives a three-dimensional textured effect. The headboard and curtains are in a pretty, delicate green and red floral print. From the beamed ceiling hangs a delightful tasselled Moroccan lamp.
In the bathroom there are red accent tiles and a Moorish horseshoe-shaped window.
The writer and composer Paul Bowles, after whom this room is named, lived in Tangiers for over 50 years with his wife Jane. It was here that he wrote his most famous novel set in Morocco, The Sheltering Sky; Bowles has a cameo role in Bertolucci’s film adaptation of the book.
